Safer Langlees and Bainsford were formed in July 1997 when a Community Safety group and Road Safety group joined together. The two groups conjoined as the remit of both groups crossed over and it was easier to obtain funding through one unified organization.

The aims of SLAB were to;

  • Advance the education of persons living and/or working in the area in all aspects of safety including road safety, environmental safety, safety in the home, safety work and in play
  • Increase awareness and understanding through education and publicity of the community needs and issues of the area
  • Develop initiatives, in partnership with relevant organizations, designed to improve safety within the community for example, reducing speed limits, promoting home and personal safety
  • Work with people of all ages within the community

There have been a wide variety of initiatives, information sessions and campaigns over the years some successful, some not so, but SLAB have continued to work to these aims and more.

SLAB is made up volunteers from the local area who have an interest in safety. SLAB work with Central Scotland Police, Central Scotland Fire and Resue Service, Falkirk and District Community Safety Panel, Dawson Centre Management Committee to name but a few
